Pain treatment with Acutouch

Painful conditions that respond well to acutouch therapy include:

a) myofacial pain -- trigger point approach to treatment.

b) non-myofacial: nociceptive pain and visceral pain --- best approached by segmental acupuncture.

c) neurogenic pain ---- direct segmental stim may be effective but this can often exacerbate the symptoms. In this case non-segmental acupuncture is usually the best approach.

d) Acute or surgical pain ---- acupuncture used in addition to anesthesia or sedation. Non-segmental approach is usually the best.
